TOLEDO

Spain´s first capital city, known as The Imperial City, is located in a hilltop overlooking the Tagus River near to Madrid. In 1987 this fortified city was declared World Heritage Site by the UNESCO due to its historical importance, an outstanding example of peaceful co-existence of three cultures (Jewish, Christian and Muslim).

The top attractions in Toledo are the city´s magnifient Cathedral, the Synagogue of "El Tránsito", the San Servando Castle and the "Alcázar", a fort that was founded almost 1000 years ago. While for Spanish art, the Holy Cross Museum boast an extensive collection where Goya, Velázquez and overall by the famous Renaissance artist, "El Greco" are represented.

It is a real pleasure to walk through its charming narrow streets which are almost like a labyrinth and taste their delicious dishes based on stews, game meats and the popular "migas".
