ÁVILA + SALAMANCA

We propose this two cities tour together but well worth staying at least one day visiting each.
Ávila´s symbol is the medieval city wall, one of the best preserved in Europe (http://muralladeavila.com/en/) but its historic centre and the several religious buildings have been awarded the World Heritage designation by the UNESCO. Called "the City of Stones and Saints" is a place where culture and good food go hand in hand. You cannot miss the opportunity to visit the cathedral, squares, palaces and churches and of course, to try their tasty steaks (one of the best meat in Spain), the popular white kidney beans or the sweet confectionery Known as the "yemas de Ávila" (made with egg yolks and sugar).

The second one is a universal, magnificent, wise and young city. Salamanca's historic city centre has been designated a World Heritage Site by the UNESCO as well but even being like that it is a city which can be walked calmly through its pedestrian streets.

This is the Spanish University City par excellence: Salamanca University was the first to be founded in Spain and is one of the oldest in Europe too. It is a highly regarded European university and it has been attended by some of the greatest Spanish thinkers, artists and writers. Besides, the Cathedral (where we have the opportunity to access the permanent exhibition called "Ieronimus", a ride that allows an access to the highest point of the Cathedral and see up close, almost touching, towers 110 meters high and visit a terrace with stunning views of the city, simply fantastic!), the “Casa de las Conchas”, the Calisto and Melibea garden or the Roman Bridge are some of the monuments that should be visited but the jewel of the city is the main square, the most beautiful in Spain
Called the golden city, you should experience by day and by night, but above all at dusk. This is when the sun gives a golden hue to the materials used in the construction of Salamanca's monuments.

Both cities claim that they have the highest number of bars and restaurants per capita in Spain and Europe. So of course, we will spend some time in them. Great opportunity to experience the TAPAS atmosphere and culture, hopping from bar to bar savouring portions of the cuisine specialties of this land.

The heritage, culture and excellent cuisine are always available to visitors in these welcoming towns.
